Okana Rural House
A garden at home for 4
If we could go back to the 16th century and walk through the countryside of Euskadi, we would enjoy the sight of numerous hórreos or garaixes.
Formerly they were very common in the farmhouses of the eastern valleys of Biscay, although today there are practically none left.
The garaixes were buildings attached to the traditional farmhouses raised on pillars to store wheat, fruit and meat. They were also used to protect foodstuffs from animals and humidity and represented the social prestige of the family that owned them.
The Garaixe de Astei, built in larch wood in imitation of the originals, is a cozy little house of 35 square meters with integrated kitchen and bathroom ideal for couples who want to enjoy this unique building.
On the oak shelves and on the walls, collections of antique plates decorated with farmhouse scenes and mugs with different Basque motifs evoke ancient times.
A lofty room decorated with illustrations by cartoonist and academic Erramun Landa invites you to enjoy the cultural heritage of Euskadi.
Downstairs, a private terrace surrounded by trees is the ideal place to soak up the sounds and aromas of a natural environment.
Just for you and your partner.
Beautiful elevated cabin.
Surrounded by nature and under cover.
